Mid~week Humour

Don't know about you, but I was needing a laugh this week ~ lucky for me I came upon this posting about Mel Juffe and Edward Gorey's The Recently Deflowered Girl from 1965. Being a fan of Edward Gorey's work and a collector of etiquette books, this is one I'd like to acquire for my collection even if it is a parody and much newer than most of the etiquette books I collect.

Miss Hyacinthe Phypps offers all sorts of valuable advice to young girls in all sorts of predicaments ~ certainly a must have for every girl coming of age. I've posted a few of the pages from the book below ~ more can be seen here. Make sure to read the stories, so that you will know when to heed the advice! (Click on images for larger view)

{A smart girl will always find opportunities to compliment her young man in the presence of others}

{Thrift is a virtue men like to find in women}
